lean summer for produce due to the extreme drought and high heat, we are now enjoying a wonderful fall with\u00a0a bountiful\u00a0choice of\u00a0vegetables and fruits\u00a0at\u00a0my local farmers market.\u00a0 The photo\u00a0at left\u00a0is just one weekend&#8217;s\u00a0haul including cauliflower, broccoli, eggplant (I made <a title=\"My Moussaka\" href=\"http:\/\/realfoodhouston.com\/2011\/06\/27\/my-moussaka\/\">My Moussaka<\/a> with these fresh beauties), green beans, radishes, carrots, peppers, and lots of greens.\u00a0 I found all these and more at my favorite farmers market,\u00a0the Nassau Bay Farmers Market at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ermasnutritioncenter.com\/retailer\/store_templates\/shell_id_1.asp?storeID=14266C65F09F4E5C89990CB4ADD1FCE4\" target=\"_blank\">Erma&#8217;s Nutrition Center<\/a>.\u00a0\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/realfoodhouston.com\/wp-files\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/Ermas.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-1298\" title=\"Ermas Nutrition Center, Nassau Bay, TX\" src=\"http:\/\/realfoodhouston.com\/wp-files\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/Ermas-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"Ermas Nutrition Center, Nassau Bay, TX\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>What I like most about this farmers market, other than it&#8217;s conveniently located, is it\u00a0only has local produce grown using organic practices, and all vendors sell products they\u00a0grow or make themselves.\u00a0 The farmers market is operated by John and Ellen Milstead and their daughter Sarah, who own Erma&#8217;s Nutrition Center.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/realfoodhouston.com\/wp-files\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/Rogers_produce.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-1300\" title=\"Gil Rogers Produce\" src=\"http:\/\/realfoodhouston.com\/wp-files\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/Rogers_produce-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"Gil Rogers Produce\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.realfoodhouston.com\/wp-files\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/Rogers_produce-150x150.jpg 150w, http:\/\/www.realfoodhouston.com\/wp-files\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/Rogers_produce-300x300.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.realfoodhouston.com\/wp-files\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/Rogers_produce.jpg 770w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/><\/a>For the last few weeks there have been\u00a0lots of greens, green beans, lettuce, spinach, squash, eggplant, satsumas, limes, and peppers, and now there are also cauliflower, broccoli, and cabbages.\u00a0\u00a0Most of the produce has just been picked and it looks it&#8211;dewy fresh.\u00a0 Of course the taste is also extra special.\u00a0 All of them beat the limp grocery store vegetables brought in from thousands of miles away, most of them days or even weeks old before they get to the store.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/realfoodhouston.com\/wp-files\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/Homemade_soaps.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-1404\" title=\"Homemade_soaps\" src=\"http:\/\/realfoodhouston.com\/wp-files\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/Homemade_soaps-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"Homemade_soaps\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.realfoodhouston.com\/wp-files\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/Homemade_soaps-150x150.jpg 150w, http:\/\/www.realfoodhouston.com\/wp-files\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/Homemade_soaps-300x297.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/><\/a>There are also vendors who sell jewelry, homemade soaps,\u00a0bath salts, and pottery.\u00a0 Vendors vary from season to season, but many of them are always there and have been coming every Saturday for years.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Georgia's Grassfed Beef\" href=\"http:\/\/www.txgrassfedbeef.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Georgia&#8217;s Grassfed Beef <\/a>always has a table and sells their beef&#8211;of course&#8211;as well as pastured chicken, lamb, pork (including some of the best nitrite-, nitrate-free bacon ever), eggs, and honey.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/realfoodhouston.com\/wp-files\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/Law_family_beefgrains.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-1406\" Company\" href=\"http:\/\/lawranchcattlecompanytx.farming.officelive.com\/default.aspx\/\" target=\"_blank\">Law Ranch Cattle Company<\/a> is also always there selling their excellent dry aged, grassfed beef.\u00a0 Amy Law also sells whole grains or freshly ground flour in a variety of grinds.\u00a0 During spring, summer, and fall, Master Gardener Bill Wyatt of Grace Outdoors has a great
