Here&#8217;s my recipe:<\/p>\n<p>1 cup raw goat milk kefir<br \/>\n1 small ripe organic banana (or half of a large one)<br \/>\n1 tablespoon raw organic cocoa powder<br \/>\n1 tablespoon organic flaxseeds (optional)<br \/>\n1 tablespoon coconut oil<br \/>\n2 egg yolks, from pastured chickens<br \/>\nStevia to taste<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/realfoodhouston.com\/wp-files\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/Smoothie-ready-to-blend1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-1996\" title=\"Smoothie in beaker ready to blend\" src=\"http:\/\/realfoodhouston.com\/wp-files\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/Smoothie-ready-to-blend1-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"Smoothie in beaker ready to blend\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/realfoodhouston.com\/wp-files\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/Finished-smoothie.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-1997\" title=\"Finished smoothie\" src=\"http:\/\/realfoodhouston.com\/wp-files\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/Finished-smoothie-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"Finished smoothie\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/realfoodhouston.com\/wp-files\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/Smoothie-ready-to-drink.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-1998\" title=\"Smoothie ready to drink\" src=\"http:\/\/realfoodhouston.com\/wp-files\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/Smoothie-ready-to-drink-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>Measure kefir into a beaker [I prefer to use a heavy-duty borosilicate glass beaker rather than the plastic beaker that came with my hand blender.] Add&#8211;in any order&#8211;banana, flaxseed, coconut oil, cocoa powder, egg yolks, and stevia. Using a hand blender, blend until well combined and the flaxseeds are broken up.\u00a0 [Note: if seed pieces in your smoothie bother you, just omit the flaxseeds. I love the chewy bits of seed in my smoothies, but not everyone likes to chew on their smoothie.]<\/p>\n<p>The smoothie could be made in a regular blender, but I like the ease of cleaning up using the hand blender and beaker. I also usually just\u00a0sip\u00a0my smoothie\u00a0out of the beaker&#8211;saves one more cleanup.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Variations:<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Instead of the banana and cocoa powder, add 1\/4 cup fresh or frozen organic blueberries and a dash of organic cinnamon. This is probably my second favorite. Instead of blueberries, I sometimes use mixed berries.
