{"id":2980,"date":"2012-06-12T16:58:58","date_gmt":"2012-06-12T21:58:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/realfoodhouston.com\/?p=2980"},"modified":"2018-10-25T13:03:15","modified_gmt":"2018-10-25T18:03:15","slug":"mango-coconut-kefir-smoothie","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.realfoodhouston.com\/wp-files\/2012\/06\/12\/mango-coconut-kefir-smoothie\/","title":{"rendered":"Mango Coconut Kefir Smoothie"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/realfoodhouston.com\/wp-files\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/Mango-smoothie.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-2986\" title=\"Mango smoothie\" src=\"http:\/\/realfoodhouston.com\/wp-files\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/Mango-smoothie-196x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"196\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a>I&#8217;ve already said that I\u00a0have a kefir smoothie for breakfast almost every morning.\u00a0 I still love my <a href=\"http:\/\/realfoodhouston.com\/2012\/02\/14\/morning-smoothie-oooom-good\/\">banana chocolate morning smoothie<\/a>, but I&#8217;ve found that a verrry close second is my Mango Coconut Kefir Smoothie.\u00a0 It is super good, thick and creamy, and, of course, delicious and healthy too.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s how I make my Mango Coconut Kefir Smoothie:<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>What you need:<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>1 mango, cubed\u00a0[See Note below for how to cube a mango]<br \/>\n3\/4 to 1 cup kefir (made with raw cow or goat milk)<br \/>\n1 &#8211; 2 tablespoons raw cream (for extra nutrition and richness)<br \/>\n1 tablespoon coconut oil<br \/>\n1 or 2 egg yolks from pastured chickens<br \/>\nstevia or natural sweetener (such as organic maple syrup or raw honey) to taste<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>What you do:<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/realfoodhouston.com\/wp-files\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/Ingredients-for-manago-smoothie.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-2984\" title=\"Ingredients for mango smoothie\" src=\"http:\/\/realfoodhouston.com\/wp-files\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/Ingredients-for-manago-smoothie-300x282.jpg\" alt=\"Ingredients for mango smoothie\" width=\"300\" height=\"282\" \/><\/a>Put all ingredients in a beaker (again, I love my heavy-duty borosilicate glass beaker). I rarely measure the kefir, coconut oil, or cream, I just spoon it up or pour it in, but I&#8217;ve given the approximate amounts that I use.\u00a0 Blend until all ingredients are thoroughly mixed.\u00a0 Pour into a glass and enjoy!\u00a0 So quick and easy.\u00a0 The mango makes the smoothie\u00a0so thick you could almost spoon it up.\u00a0 The smoothie could be made in a regular blender as well as with a stick blender.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Note about Mangos:<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0 I prefer <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Ataulfo_(mango)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ataulfo<\/a> mangos, which have a buttery, less fibrous texture and are smaller than the more common red-green Tommy Atkins mango, but any mango will do for your smoothie.\u00a0\u00a0Ataulfo mangos are not always available, especially organic ones, but I use them when I can find them.
