{"id":3453,"date":"2012-08-28T17:37:36","date_gmt":"2012-08-28T22:37:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/realfoodhouston.com\/?p=3453"},"modified":"2014-09-20T15:50:10","modified_gmt":"2014-09-20T20:50:10","slug":"toddlers-have-a-great-time-at-healthy-way-dairy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.realfoodhouston.com\/wp-files\/2012\/08\/28\/toddlers-have-a-great-time-at-healthy-way-dairy\/","title":{"rendered":"Toddlers have a great time at Healthyway Dairy!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/realfoodhouston.com\/wp-files\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/Johanna-with-calf.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-3454\" title=\"Johanna with calf\" src=\"http:\/\/realfoodhouston.com\/wp-files\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/Johanna-with-calf-264x300.jpg\" alt=\"Johanna with calf\" width=\"264\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a>What&#8217;s not to like about these photos&#8211;seven toddlers and their moms had a fun tour of Healthyway Dairy last week.\u00a0 The children were especially lucky because there was a three-week old Jersey calf to play with, along with the chickens.\u00a0 Irene Nelson of the Santa Fe raw milk dairy hosted the farm tour for the children and their moms.<\/p>\n<p>The idea for the tour began when Whitney, a young mom with a cute two-year old named Johanna [that&#8217;s her on the left in the green checked shirt and pigtails], took a friend and both of their toddlers along to pick up raw milk from Healthyway Dairy.\u00a0 The friend tagged along because her son Edmond really loves cows! \u00a0They enjoyed the trip so much that Whitney showed photos of the farm trip to her moms group.\u00a0 Immediately all the other mothers wanted to take their children to visit the farm too. So Whitney contacted Irene Nelson of Healthy Way Dairy and arranged a farm tour for the toddlers.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/realfoodhouston.com\/wp-files\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/Luke-with-calf.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-3455\" title=\"Luke with calf\" src=\"http:\/\/realfoodhouston.com\/wp-files\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/Luke-with-calf-300x221.jpg\" alt=\"Luke with calf\" width=\"300\" height=\"221\" \/><\/a>Irene greeted them at the farm and let the children get close to the cute Jersey calf and run around with it.\u00a0 All the children got a chance to admire the calf and pet it.\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/realfoodhouston.com\/wp-files\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/Nolan-with-calf.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-3457\" title=\"Nolan with calf\" src=\"http:\/\/realfoodhouston.com\/wp-files\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/Nolan-with-calf-224x300.jpg\" alt=\"Nolan with calf\" width=\"224\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.realfoodhouston.com\/wp-files\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/Nolan-with-calf-224x300.jpg 224w, http:\/\/www.realfoodhouston.com\/wp-files\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/Nolan-with-calf.jpg 717w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 224px) 100vw, 224px\" \/><\/a> A little while later, Irene and the moms helped the children climb around on a tractor, which they really enjoyed. [The two-year old boy in the blue shirt is Luke.\u00a0 The little boy with the white shirt and baseball cap is Nolen.]<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>After playing with the calf and climbing on the tractor, it was time to have fun with the chickens.\u00a0 Irene got a bucket of feed for the chickens and let the children reach in to get food to throw to the chickens.\u00a0 Johanna [in the orange shirt on her first visit to the farm] loved the roosters best because they kept crowing at her.<a two-year-olds had fun at the farm and some of the moms bought raw milk for the first time.\u00a0 They really loved the milk, which doesn&#8217;t surprise me, because I drink Healthy Way Dairy milk
