{"id":3842,"date":"2012-10-07T15:08:38","date_gmt":"2012-10-07T20:08:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/realfoodhouston.com\/?p=3842"},"modified":"2012-10-07T15:08:38","modified_gmt":"2012-10-07T20:08:38","slug":"partners-in-paleo-a-new-restaurant-in-the-houston-area","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.realfoodhouston.com\/wp-files\/2012\/10\/07\/partners-in-paleo-a-new-restaurant-in-the-houston-area\/","title":{"rendered":"Partners in Paleo  &#8211; a new restaurant in the Houston area"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/realfoodhouston.com\/wp-files\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/Chicken-salad-with-potatoes-Web.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-3844\" title=\"Chicken salad with potatoes\" src=\"http:\/\/realfoodhouston.com\/wp-files\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/Chicken-salad-with-potatoes-Web.jpg\" alt=\"Chicken salad with potatoes\" width=\"640\" height=\"470\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.realfoodhouston.com\/wp-files\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/Chicken-salad-with-potatoes-Web.jpg 640w, http:\/\/www.realfoodhouston.com\/wp-files\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/Chicken-salad-with-potatoes-Web-300x220.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a>My husband and I just visited a new (only open two weeks) restaurant for lunch yesterday.\u00a0 The food was very tasty (I ate every bite of my lunch and sampled my husband&#8217;s potatoes too), and, best of all we didn&#8217;t even need to count it as our &#8220;junk meal&#8221; of the week (that&#8217;s what we usually call our once a week eat out meal).\u00a0 Wow!\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.partnersinpaleo.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Partners in Paleo<\/a> is in League City just south of Houston.\u00a0 For now, it&#8217;s only open 11 to 3 Tuesday through Saturday.\u00a0 We had a delicious chicken salad seasoned perfectly with dried cranberries, nuts, apple, and homemade mayonnaise and served on fresh, crisp lettuce leaves.\u00a0 My sides were creamed cauliflower and deviled eggs.\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/realfoodhouston.com\/wp-files\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/Chicken-salad-with-deviled-eggs-Web.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-3846\" title=\"Chicken salad with deviled eggs\" src=\"http:\/\/realfoodhouston.com\/wp-files\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/Chicken-salad-with-deviled-eggs-Web-300x198.jpg\" alt=\"Chicken salad with deviled eggs\" width=\"300\" height=\"198\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.realfoodhouston.com\/wp-files\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/Chicken-salad-with-deviled-eggs-Web-300x198.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.realfoodhouston.com\/wp-files\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/Chicken-salad-with-deviled-eggs-Web.jpg 448w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>My husband also had the creamed cauliflower but added fingerling potatoes as his second side.\u00a0 Although we both enjoyed the chicken salad, we would have liked to try other dishes.\u00a0 Unfortunately we arrived just after two CrossFit groups had eaten up all the roast beef and brussels sprouts with bacon.\u00a0 In fact, according to their <a href=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/PartnersInPaleo?ref=ts&amp;fref=ts\" target=\"_blank\">Facebook page<\/a>, they sold out of food later on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>The owner\/cook is Jeanette Pearson and her goal is to provide healthy food for her friends and neighbors.\u00a0 She became interested in a healthy diet through her connection with CrossFit.\u00a0 Her CrossFit friends emphasize nutrition, and last year she heard a talk about the <a href=\"www.westonaprice.org\" target=\"_blank\">Weston A. Price Foundation<\/a>, all of which came together at just the right time.\u00a0 She wanted to find a job that didn&#8217;t require so much traveling, and she loved to cook.\u00a0 When a friend talked about wanting to eat a more healthy diet but just didn&#8217;t have time to cook (sound familiar?), she decided to put her cooking skills to work.<\/p>\n<p>At first, Jeanette was a personal chef and cooked meals for people in their own kitchens.\u00a0 When she realized she was ready to expand her cooking horizons, she started to look for a commercial kitchen where she could be licensed to cook and sell food.\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/realfoodhouston.com\/wp-files\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/Partners-in-paleo-Web.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-3847\" title=\"Partners in Paleo restaurant\" src=\"http:\/\/realfoodhouston.com\/wp-files\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/Partners-in-paleo-Web-300x224.jpg\" alt=\"Partners in Paleo restaurant\" width=\"300\" height=\"224\" \/><\/a> At about that time, a local coffee shop was ready to sell out.\u00a0 The location looked good, so she took the plunge.\u00a0 Jeanette is a very good cook.\u00a0 She serves organic produce (and is looking for better sources), pasture raised meats and eggs, uses no wheat, dairy or sugar (some maple syrup), and just a little rice flour.\u00a0 She is having some trouble getting enough organic produce and told us that last week she wiped out the organic cauliflower at the local Kroger.\u00a0 The menu changes daily depending on what is fresh and local.<\/p>\n<p>I certainly hope this new paleo restaurant stays in business&#8211;we plan to help.\u00a0 It&#8217;s close to our home, and the food is really, really good and healthy too!
