however, we had really enjoyed the coconut flour <a href=\"http:\/\/realfoodhouston.com\/2012\/12\/21\/blueberry-muffins-grain-free\/\">blueberry muffins<\/a>, so I thought I would try the coconut flour Cheese Biscuits.\u00a0 We love cheese with almost everything, especially extra sharp cheddar, which is the kind of cheese I added to these biscuits.<\/p>\n<p><em>Here&#8217;s how I made my cheese biscuits:<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Ingredients<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>4 eggs, preferably pastured<br \/>\n1\/4 cup butter, melted (or coconut oil), preferably from grass-fed cows<br \/>\n1\/4 teaspoon salt, Celtic Sea Salt<br \/>\n1\/3 cup sifted coconut flour, organic<br \/>\n1\/4 teaspoon baking powder, aluminum free<br \/>\n3\/4 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese, from rBST free cows (no GMOs)<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Preparation<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Blend together eggs, butter, and salt.\u00a0 Combine coconut flour with baking powder and whisk into batter until there are no lumps.\u00a0 Fold in cheese.\u00a0 Drop batter by the spoonful onto a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper.\u00a0 (You could use a greased cookie sheet instead.)\u00a0 Bake at 400 degrees F for 15 minutes.\u00a0 Makes 8 biscuits.<\/p>\n<p>By the way, the crispy, cheesy biscuit edges you see in the photo were especially good!<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Other options<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For onion biscuits, add 1\/4 teaspoon onion powder when you blend the eggs, butter, and salt.<\/p>\n<p>For garlic cheese biscuits, fold 8 diced cloves of garlic into the batter after adding the shredded cheese.<\/p>\n<p>This recipe is based on one by Bruce Fife in his <em>Cooking with Coconut Flour<\/em> cookbook.<\/p>\n<p><em>This post is shared on <a href=\"http:\/\/realfoodforager.com\/fat-tuesday-february-11-2013\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fat Tuesday<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I made my favorite vegetable beef soup the other day and wanted something to add a different flavor to the meal.\u00a0 We don&#8217;t eat a lot of bread or bread substitutes;
