Harris County was reportedly responsible for killing HB 2084 (the local foods omnibus bill) in the Local & Consent Calendars Committee so that it was not voted on by the House.” The Department used Harris county taxpayers’ money to defeat a bill that affected all Texans. The claims that apparently had the most influence on the committee were about safety; but, this is NOT a safety issue.
