Price Foundation<\/a> table.\u00a0 As co-leader of the <a href=\"www.wapf-houston.org\" target=\"_blank\">Houston-Galveston chapter<\/a>, I wanted to meet and welcome as many of those attending as possible to let them know how glad we were to have them with us and to be sure they found the correct rooms for their sessions.<\/p>\n<p>However, the number of new attendees was less on Sunday, and I was able to sit in on several excellent talks.\u00a0 If you were not able to attend the conference or didn&#8217;t get to go to these sessions, I want to share with you a few of the highlights from the Sunday sessions.\u00a0 If you would like to hear all the speakers but could not attend or missed some sessions you wanted to hear, you can <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fleetwoodonsite.com\/index.php?cPath=40#.UzxNpldWjLk\" target=\"_blank\">purchase recordings<\/a> of the entire conference.<\/p>\n<h3>Catherine Masden ND<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/realfoodhouston.com\/wp-files\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Catherine-Masden.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-5579\" src=\"http:\/\/realfoodhouston.com\/wp-files\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Catherine-Masden-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"Catherine Masden ND\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>Catherine Masden ND and Susan Salce ND were first on the Sunday track for Nutrition for Chronic Disease.\u00a0 The topic was <em>Dis-Ease to Health: Nutrition, Homeopathy &amp; EFT<\/em>.\u00a0 Both Catherine and Susan practice with Natural Health Solutions in Tomball, Texas.\u00a0 They are naturopathic doctors (ND), nutritional consultants, and master herbalists.\u00a0 They are members of the National Center of Homeopathy (NCH) and Registered Naturopathic Diplomat (RND).<\/p>\n<p>Catherine discussed the toxins in our environment, especially pesticides, chemicals, and genetically modified organisms.\u00a0 She recommended following the Environmental Working Group&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ewg.org\/foodnews\/\" target=\"_blank\">shopping guide<\/a> that lists the\u00a0 &#8220;Dirty Dozen&#8221; and &#8220;Clean Fifteen&#8221; to minimize our intake of poisons.<\/p>\n<p>The subject that seemed to be the most interesting to the audience was Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT).\u00a0 We all were shown how to relieve our stress using a healing tool that is based tapping &#8220;established energy meridian points&#8221; on the body.\u00a0 The tapping stimulates acupressure points on the head and upper body to release energy.\u00a0 We went through the EFT routine twice to evaluate its effect on our stress levels.\u00a0 We seemed to be much calmer after the tapping.<\/p>\n<h3>Dr. Dawn Ewing<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/realfoodhouston.com\/wp-files\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Dawn-Ewing.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-5580\" src=\"http:\/\/realfoodhouston.com\/wp-files\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Dawn-Ewing-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"Dr. Dawn Ewing ND\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.realfoodhouston.com\/wp-files\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Dawn-Ewing-150x150.jpg 150w, http:\/\/www.realfoodhouston.com\/wp-files\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Dawn-Ewing-300x298.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.realfoodhouston.com\/wp-files\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Dawn-Ewing.jpg 772w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/><\/a>Dr. Ewing is a naturopathic practitioner in Houston, Texas, Executive Director of the <a href=\"http:\/\/iabdm.org\" target=\"_blank\">International Academy of Biological Dentistry and Medicine (IABDM)<\/a>, and author of <a href=\"http:\/\/drdawn.net\/store\/\">Let the Tooth Be Known<\/a>.\u00a0 She practices at <a href=\"http:\/\/drdawn.net\/\" target=\"_blank\">Holistic Health Alternatives<\/a> in Spring, Texas.\u00a0 Dr. Ewing was second on the Sunday Nutrition for Chronic Disease track, and her topic was Your Teeth &amp; Gums, A Chronic Disease Risk Factor.\u00a0 Her early background as a dental hygienist led her into research on health and nutrition as it is associated with dental health.<\/p>\n<p>I learned a lot about tooth disease and how it interacts with our overall health.\u00a0 For example, there is a correlation between breast cancer and root canals in the teeth associated with the breast on the <a href=\"http:\/\/drdawn.net\/learning-center\/articles\/meridians-toothbody-connection\/\" target=\"_blank\">Dental Meridian Chart<\/a>.\u00a0 The subject of dental meridians is fascinating.\u00a0 Be sure to check out the link to Dr. Ewing&#8217;s web page. Dr. Ewing said that 98% of women with breast cancer had a <a href=\"http:\/\/drdawn.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/root_canals_dead_teeth.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">root canal<\/a> in one of the breast teeth <em>on the same side of the body<\/em>!\u00a0 Dr. Ewing also talked about the <a href=\"http:\/\/drdawn.net\/learning-center\/articles\/13-scientific-facts-about-dental-mercury-amalgam-its-health-effects\/\" target=\"_blank\">harmful effects of the mercury<\/a> vapors released from dental amalgam (the &#8220;silver&#8221; fillings in teeth).\u00a0 I have lots of amalgam fillings and was alarmed to know that chewing food and brushing the teeth releases a significant amount of mercury vapor which I then breathe in or swallow.<\/p>\n<h3>Kim Schuette CN<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/realfoodhouston.com\/wp-files\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Kim-Schuette.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-5581\" src=\"http:\/\/realfoodhouston.com\/wp-files\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Kim-Schuette-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"Kim Schuette CN\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>Kim Schuette is a Certified Nutritionist and Certified GAPS\u00a9 Instructor, practices nutritional therapy at Biodynamic Wellness in Solana Beach, California.\u00a0 She offers in-office as well as phone and Skype consultations.\u00a0 I heard Kim speak at the annual WAPF conference in Atlanta in November 2013.\u00a0 Her success with nutritional therapy is outstanding.\u00a0 In Atlanta as well as at our conference she presented several case histories of successful treatment of epilepsy, type 1 diabetes, and bipolar.<\/p>\n<p>In Houston, Kim talked about how the body digests and assimilates nutrients, and especially how permeable intestines (aka, &#8220;leaky gut&#8221;) causes autoimmune disorders.\u00a0 She emphasized the problems with the estrogenic activity of soy formula on both boy and girl babies.\u00a0 She mentioned the importance of using bone broth and\/or meat stock for health, a conclusion that I totally agree with.\u00a0 I drink a cup of bone broth every morning.\u00a0 She had lots more to say about bone health, osteoporosis, minerals, detoxing, and EMF (electro-magnetic fields).<\/p>\n<h3>Sally Fallon Morell<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/realfoodhouston.com\/wp-files\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Sally-Fallon-Morell.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-5582\" src=\"http:\/\/realfoodhouston.com\/wp-files\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Sally-Fallon-Morell-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"Sally Fallon Morell\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>The last speaker I will write about is Sally Fallon Morell, the co-founder, president, and inspiration of the Weston A.
